What Best Case Cloud is, what it costs, and how it compares

Short answer

Best Case Cloud is Stretto’s browser-hosted edition of Best Case bankruptcy software, listed at $99 per month per single-user licence with 10GB of storage as of August 2026. Best Case desktop is still sold alongside Best Case Cloud and has not been discontinued. Firms weighing Best Case Cloud against NextChapter or Jubilee Pro should first check whether the bottleneck is the petition software or the intake data entry that happens before it.

Best Case Cloud is the hosted edition of Best Case, the incumbent US consumer bankruptcy petition product owned by Stretto since it acquired Best Case LLC in March 2019. This page covers what Best Case Cloud costs, how it differs from Best Case desktop, whether desktop is going away, and which alternatives are real. Every price here is the vendor’s own published figure as of 19 August 2026.

What is Best Case Cloud?

Best Case Cloud is the browser-hosted edition of Best Case bankruptcy software, sold by Stretto. It covers the same job as Best Case desktop: taking structured debtor data and producing a filed-ready petition, schedules, statements and creditor matrix. The practical difference from Best Case desktop is where the software runs. Best Case Cloud removes the terminal server, VPN or hosted desktop that a remote paralegal otherwise needs to reach an installed application.

Stretto also owns CINcompass, the other bankruptcy product in its portfolio, and CIN Legal Data Services, which supplies the credit-report data that fills Schedules D, E and F inside Best Case and is resold inside Jubilee Pro. That matters when you compare vendors, because two of the four products on a typical shortlist come from the same company.

How much does Best Case Cloud cost?

Best Case Cloud costs $99 per month per single-user licence and includes 10GB of storage as of August 2026. Add-ons are priced separately. For comparison, Jubilee Pro publishes $50 a month, CINcompass publishes $75 a month for up to 10 filings, and NextChapter publishes $159 a year for up to four cases and $999 a year for unlimited filing.

Vendor-published pricing checked 19 August 2026. Capterra and Software Advice list Best Case at $2,395 per user per month; that figure conflicts with Best Case’s own pricing and reads as an annual desktop number in a monthly field. Do not budget from it.

Best Case Cloud vs Best Case desktop

Best Case Cloud is a per-user monthly subscription at $99 with 10GB of storage. Best Case desktop is a perpetual licence costing $1,500 to $4,000 in year one plus $500 per additional user, then $750 to $2,350 a year in maintenance. Over three years a single Best Case Cloud user costs $3,564, while a single-user Chapter 7 desktop licence costs $1,500 in year one plus $750 to $1,450 a year after that. Best Case Cloud buys remote access and removes server upkeep, so any saving shows up in IT overhead rather than in licence fees.

Best Case Cloud at $99 per month works out to $1,188 per user per year. Desktop figures are Best Case’s published year-one and maintenance pricing.

The cloud edition attracts sharper reviews than the desktop one. A one-star review from February 2026 reads “This Cloud-version is by far, the worst. It is virtually unfunctional. I’ve used bankruptcy software for 25 years.” Across all editions, Best Case rates 3.9 out of 5 on 39 Capterra reviews, with Document Management at 2.5 and Value for money at 3.5. Run a real Chapter 13 through a trial before committing a whole firm.

Is Best Case desktop being discontinued?

No. As of 19 August 2026 there is no announced end of life for Best Case desktop, no forced migration to Best Case Cloud, and no discontinuation of Best Case in any form. Stretto sells both editions today and publishes current pricing for both. Any page telling you Best Case is being replaced or sunset is repeating a claim with no source behind it.

The forced migration this market half-remembers is real, and it happened to a different product. CINcompass users were pushed onto Best Case, and Stretto owns both. A February 2024 reviewer wrote: “We previously had the app version of CIN Compass. When we were forced to switch, we tried to give BC the benefit of the doubt. The more we use it the less we like it.” CINcompass itself is genuinely abandoned: it rates 3.2 out of 5 on 6 Capterra reviews, its stated dependency was Microsoft Silverlight and Internet Explorer, and Silverlight reached end of life in October 2021. Reviewers describe it as “All but abandoned. No support” and report “No ability to get your files if you need them or leave.”

If your firm is one of those CINcompass refugees and is unhappy on Best Case, the options in Best Case alternatives compared apply to you the same way, with one caveat: you have already paid one migration this decade.

What are the alternatives to Best Case Cloud?

The realistic alternatives to Best Case Cloud are NextChapter, owned by Clio and rated 4.8 out of 5 on 136 Capterra reviews, and Jubilee Pro from LegalPRO Systems, rated 4.5 on 105 reviews. CINcompass is not a serious option in 2026. Casewell is not an alternative to Best Case Cloud at all; it runs before Best Case and exports a .BCB file into it.

  • NextChapter, best for firms that want the highest-rated product. 4.8 on 136 reviews, 98 percent positive, $159 a year up to four cases through $999 a year unlimited.
  • Jubilee Pro, best for a price-sensitive small firm. $50 a month, or $49 per individual case with no subscription. 4.5 on 105 reviews.
  • Best Case Cloud, best for firms already trained on Best Case. Same field layout, same output, same docket history, no migration.
  • CINcompass, not recommended. 3.2 on 6 reviews and a dead runtime dependency.
  • Casewell, not a replacement. It removes the retyping in front of whichever platform your firm keeps. See how Casewell works.

Does moving to Best Case Cloud reduce data entry?

No. Best Case Cloud and Best Case desktop take the same input in the same way. Moving to the cloud edition changes where the software runs and who can reach it; the paralegal still types the client’s answers into the same fields. The only data-entry saving Stretto claims anywhere is from the CIN Legal Data Services credit-report import, marketed as saving an average of 60 minutes per case.

That 60-minute figure is worth sitting with, because it comes from the incumbent and it is conservative. The credit-report import fills only Schedules D, E and F. If automating the creditor schedules alone is worth an hour by Best Case’s own accounting, the rest of the petition, meaning Schedules A through J, the Statement of Financial Affairs and the means test, is worth more than that.

How do you get intake data into Best Case Cloud?

There are four documented paths into Best Case Cloud: manual keying, the CIN Legal Data Services credit-report import covering Schedules D, E and F only, the MyCaseInfo online client questionnaire priced per download, and Best Case client-file transfer between installations. There is no public Best Case API and no published specification for the .BCB file format, so no third-party importer exists.

MyCaseInfo is the closest thing Stretto sells to Casewell, and it depends on the client typing their own answers into a web questionnaire. That is a real constraint in consumer bankruptcy, where the American College of Bankruptcy and NCLC best-practices guidance still endorses eliciting information “using a written questionnaire that should be reviewed carefully in an interview” and notes that “it is generally good practice to have the debtor sign any completed questionnaire.” Best Case itself ships a 34-page paper Client Questionnaire, copyright 1996 to 2008 Best Case Solutions, that is still circulating on law-firm websites today.

Casewell reads that completed paper packet. Each page is read five times independently, the reads are compared field by field, and any field where the reads disagree is shown to your staff next to the cropped handwriting so a person decides. Mapping into Best Case fields is deterministic, and the exported .BCB file is read back and checked against the values your team confirmed before it is handed over. More detail is on getting client data into Best Case and the Best Case Client Questionnaire.

Is Best Case bankruptcy software being discontinued?

No. As of August 2026 Stretto sells both Best Case desktop and Best Case Cloud, with current published pricing for each. There is no announced end of life and no forced cloud migration. The forced migration people remember affected CINcompass users, who were moved onto Best Case.

How much does Best Case Cloud cost per year?

Best Case Cloud is $99 per month per single-user licence with 10GB of storage, which is $1,188 per user per year as of August 2026. Add-ons are priced separately. Best Case desktop is $1,500 to $4,000 in year one and $750 to $2,350 a year thereafter.

Should I move from Best Case desktop to Best Case Cloud?

Move if staff cannot reach the installed application from where they work, or if you want to stop maintaining a firm server. Do not move expecting lower cost or less data entry. Best Case Cloud and Best Case desktop accept intake data through the same four paths.

Is Best Case Cloud cheaper than NextChapter or Jubilee Pro?

No. Best Case Cloud at $1,188 per user per year is above NextChapter at $999 a year for unlimited filing and above Jubilee Pro at $600 a year on the $50 monthly plan. All three are vendor-published prices as of August 2026, before add-ons.

What is a .BCB file?

A .BCB file is the native case file Best Case reads. The format has no published specification; file.org lists Best Case as the program that opens .BCB and states the format is not described. Casewell writes a native .BCB and verifies it by reading it back before export.
