Get client data into Best Case without retyping

Four ways firms move intake data into Best Case, what each one really costs, and where Casewell fits.

Short answer

Best Case can receive client data three ways on its own: a client-completed web questionnaire, a creditor import from a credit report, and manual entry by your staff. Casewell adds a fourth. Upload a completed packet, or dictate and paste interview notes; Casewell maps the information, routes it through review, and exports a native .BCB file that you open in Best Case with the schedules already populated. No plugin, no migration, no change to how your firm files.

How do firms get intake data into Best Case today?

Most firms use more than one of these, and most end up doing manual entry for the cases that matter most.

The gap is everything that arrives outside Best Case: paper packets, filled PDFs and interview notes that staff would otherwise re-enter by hand.

What does the Casewell export contain?

A native Best Case file, verified against the values your team confirmed. Casewell reads the file it just wrote and compares it back to the case before releasing it, so an export that does not match never reaches you.

Does Casewell replace Best Case?

No, and it is not trying to. Best Case does petition preparation, the means test, amendments and filing, and your firm has years of practice built around it. Casewell only covers the step before all of that: turning the intake your firm collected into structured, reviewed data.

If your firm is considering a platform migration to solve intake slowness, it is worth checking whether intake is actually the problem you have. Switching petition software moves the retyping; it does not remove it.

Best Case import questions

How do I get client data into Best Case without retyping it?

There are four practical routes. Have the client complete Best Case’s own web questionnaire so the answers arrive structured; import a creditor list from a credit report; retype the intake by hand; or use Casewell. Casewell can read a completed packet or map dictated and pasted interview notes, route the result through review, and export a native .BCB you open in Best Case. The right choice depends on how your firm and clients actually handle intake.

What is a .BCB file?

A .BCB file is Best Case’s own case file format. Opening one in Best Case loads the case with its schedules and data already populated, which is why it is the right handoff format for anything that prepares case data outside the software.

Does Casewell change how our firm uses Best Case?

No. Casewell produces a file you open in Best Case. Your templates, your review process, your local district practices and your filing steps are all unchanged. The only difference is that the data is already entered when you open the case.

Do we need a plugin or an integration installed in Best Case?

No. There is nothing to install and nothing to configure inside Best Case. Casewell hands you a file; Best Case opens files.

Is Casewell affiliated with Best Case or Stretto?

No. Casewell is an independent product. Best Case and Stretto are named here only to describe compatibility.

What if a client filled the intake form out by hand in cursive?

That is the case Casewell was built for. Handwriting, including cursive, is read five times and any field where the reads disagree is routed to your staff with the cropped handwriting shown beside it, rather than being guessed at.
